Friends and family would say Vera Gaskins was gracious and kind. She loved her family with all of her heart. Vera cherished her community of Emerald Isle, NC, where she lived for 46 years, and once serving as Mayor. She was a talented quilter and belonged to a quilter's group that made the quilt hanging in the Town Hall of Emerald Isle. In her last days, one of Vera's favorite activities was having a picnic lunch in her room at The Landings on Sundays with Randy, Cindy, and her precious great-grandchildren. Vera leaves a legacy of always sending handwritten thank you notes to anyone that extended kindness to her. It was a true honor to know Vera and be loved by her.
Leaving behind to honor and cherish Vera's legacy and memories are her sons, Walter Gaskins Jr. and his wife, Libby, and Randy Gaskins and his wife Cindy; grandsons, Jared Beverage and his wife, Amy, and Adam Beverage and his wife, Julie; great-grandchildren, Paykin, Addison, Lyndley, Zeb, and Lucan; special niece, Jeanie Carter; and sister-in-law, Sadie Everington.
Vera is preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter Gaskins Sr., and her siblings.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Cotten Funeral Home is honored to serve the family and friends of Vera Cochran Gaskins.
