He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Cherry Point. He and Mary traveled the U.S. in their motorhome many times and enjoyed water activities and camping.
William is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Carraway, one son, Christopher Carraway and wife Diana, one daughter, Lynn Simpson and husband Fred, all of New Bern; his grandchildren, Ross and Ryan Carraway and Ashley Simpson.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Clarks United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Clarks UMC.
