William Claggett Johnson Sr.

William “Bill” Claggett Johnson Sr., age 75, of Merritt, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025. Bill was a man of many passions—he loved riding his Harley Davidson, cutting his grass, and spending time on the water. His sharp sense of style and his zest for life were evident to all who knew him.

Bill leaves behind his devoted wife and lifetime partner of 15 years, Pauline Johnson; sons, William “Billy” Johnson Jr., Kevin Shane Johnson (Amber), and Tyler Carl Johnson (Melony); daughters, Patricia Dawn Grant (Brian), Paula Kay Johnson and Kathy Stewart (Eric). Bill was also a proud grandfather to Wesley, Cody, Callie, Hannah, Emma, Will, Jayce, Levi, Lila, Jarrett, Dawson, Jaxson, Nathan, Natalie C., Katie, Zach, and Natalie, as well as many great-grandchildren who brought joy to his heart.

Bill was predeceased by his beloved grandchildren, Frankie, Ella and Bradley, whose memories will forever be cherished.

In honor of Bill’s memory, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
