

Maj. Allan R. Spinney, USAF Retired, age 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2012 surrounded by family at his home in New Braunfels, Texas. He was born on July 4, 1934 in Flint, Michigan to Allan P. and Naomi A. Spinney.
After a wonderful childhood, Allan joined the United States Air Force and served for 22 years. He was a Vietnam Veteran. During his service to his country, he received many military commendations, including the Distinguished Flying Cross. After 22 years of military service, Allan and his family retired to New Braunfels, TX.
Allan is preceded in death by his parents, Allan P. And Naomi A. Spinney and his sister and brother in law, Jean Ann and Marvin Dale DeRoche of West Branch, Michigan.
Allan is survived by his loving wife, Shirley L. (Braden) Spinney, his daughter and son-in-law, Suzie L. Smith and David C. Smith of New Braunfels, TX, his daughter, Diane M. Spinney of Austin, TX, his grand-daughter; and soon to be grandson-in-law, Alyssa N. Smith and Judd Absher of Austin, TX, his granddaughter, Chelsea L. Smith of Austin, TX, sister and brother-in-law, Linda (Spinney) Kartes and Tom Kartes of West Branch, Michigan, brother and sister-in-law, James and Judy Spinney of Unionville, Michigan, Shirley (Smith) Braden of Hondo, TX and Adele (Braden) Chauvet of El Paso, TX, numerous nieces and nephews, and his loving pet companion, Buddy, Jack Russell Terrier.
Public visitation will begin 5:00 PM Friday at Zoeller Funeral Home and will continue until 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Zoeller Funeral Home with Deacon Ben Wehman officiating. A Private Interment Service will be held in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.
