

Alvin Heinemeyer, 86, of New Braunfels joined our Lord on Thursday, June 6, 2013 after six weeks in the hospital. His wishes were to be buried at Guadalupe Valley Cemetery. Services will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels with Pastor Chuck Huckaby officiating. The services will be held Monday, June 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with graveside services following. Public Visitation will begin 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Zoeller Funeral Home and continue until 6:00 p.m.
Alvin was born July 23, 1926 in New Braunfels, Texas to Alvin August Heinemeyer and Thekla Pehl Heinemeyer. He attended New Braunfels High School before joining the Navy when he was 17. After WWII he came home and married Ilma (Sue) Krueger on January 18, 1947. He worked in the chemical industry and retired from Nalco Chemical in 1984 and returned to New Braunfels. He built the house of their dreams and over the years had many gardens, a yard full of flowers, and a freshly mowed yard. He loved to have his family and friends over for holidays, birthday parties, and BBQs. This house became the Heinemeyer home for family gatherings. He also loved to play golf and in 2012 he was blessed to play a round with four generations of Heinemeyers, Jerry (son), Chris (grandson), and Josh (great grandson).
Alvin was a past president and head trustee of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2999 where he also volunteered for bingo every Thursday night for 24 years to raise money for various charities. He was a life member of the American Legion, VFW and Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Brazoria and First Protestant Church of New Braunfels. He left a legacy of hard work, a caring heart, dedication and commitment to his wife, family, and friends.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, son Russell Ray Heinemeyer, and three sisters and their husbands: Nora Albin and husband Grady, Erna Dickey and husband Bill, and Tonie James and husband Henry.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sue Heinemeyer of New Braunfels; two sons, Jerry Heinemeyer and wife Betty (deceased) of New Braunfels, Texas, Robert Heinemeyer and wife Ruth of Angleton, Texas.
He had six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren all living in Texas. They are Scott Heinemeyer and his wife Peggy of Richmond, children Joshua and Ashley, Jeffrey Heinemeyer and his wife Leigh of Prosper, daughter Amber, Eric Heinemeyer and his fiancée Maghan Wallace of Houston, Andrew Heinemeyer of Needville, son Zakary, Chris Heinemeyer of Brazoria and Angela Bowers and husband Brian of Angleton, children Hayden, Emily, and Ryan.
He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Wilbert Krueger and wife Betty (deceased) and Freddie Krueger both of New Braunfels and sister-in-law Eva Nell Cribbs and husband Don of Nederland.
The family will be forever grateful for the wonderful care he received at Christus Santa Rosa, New Braunfels Regional Rehabilitation and North East Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hope Hospice or First Protestant Church of New Braunfels in Alvin’s name.
Pall Bearers will be: Scott, Chris, Jeff, Eric, and Andrew Heinemeyer and Brian Bowers.
