

She was born, on November 12, 1946 to John B. and Edith Puckett in Brownsville, Tx and raised as the youngest of five within a very close family. She graduated from Brownsville High School in 1964 and attended Texas Southmost College, where she represented the Tennis team.
Amy Lou married the late Robert “Bob” Charles Runyon in 1966 and had one son: Steven. After the two were divorced in 1987 she met and married Ricardo “Dick” M. Vasquez of McAllen, Tx in 1993. Shortly thereafter, she retired with nearly 20 years of distinguished service in Law Enforcement.
Amy Lou loved Tennis, crocheting, and traveling with her husband Dick across country in their Suburban. During their nearly 20 years together they shared much laughter, joy and love for each other, their friends, and family.
She dedicated her life to serving her family and others and demonstrated this everyday in the love and compassion that she gave her family and her involvement in the community. She had many years of service as a member of the Lions Club International and was a District Governor 2010-2011 of 2-A3 Lions in McAllen.
She is survived by her son Robert Steven Runyon of New Braunfels, Tx; brother Michael T. Puckett of Irving, Tx and many nieces, nephews, and friends in the cities she has lived.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard M. Vasquez; her parents John B. and Edith Puckett; siblings John B. Puckett Jr., Jerry Ray, and Edith Woods.
A public visitation for Amy Lou will be held Friday, July 28, 2023 from 12:00PM to 1:00 PM at Zoeller Funeral home, 615 Landa St., New Braunfels, TX 78130, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
Amy Lou will be laid to rest in Valley Memorial Gardens, 3605 North Taylor road, Mission, TX 78572-9334.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Texas Lions Camp or a charity of your choice.
