

Arlon Berthold Koehler of New Braunfels entered into eternal rest on Friday Sept. 12 in his 89th year. He was born on July 1, 1926 and grew up on the family farm on FM 725 between Schumannsville and McQueeney. He was the youngest child of George O. Koehler and Adela Laechelin Koehler. He married Ruby Reininger in Nov. 1948. Ruby preceded him in death in January of 2010.
He is survived by 3 children. Larry Koehler of Chattanooga, TN., Lou Ann Dunn of Austin and Thomas Koehler and wife Stephanie of New Braunfels and one grandchild, Jonathan Dunn and fiancée, Marie Lynn Piscitelli of Austin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. His brother Warren and sister Velma Harborth preceded him in death.
He was a WWII Army veteran and served in the Pacific toward the end of the war as a member of the distinguished Tank Destroyers division in the Philippine Islands. After the war, Arlon began a long career in automobile repair. He specialized in air conditioning when it was introduced to vehicles as an add-on system. He worked for the Krueger Motor Co. for 30 years and then purchased the Chester Stahl Garage on Union Street to open his own auto repair business. Arlon was a great outdoorsman and his greatest joy was hunting and fishing with his sons and grandson, as well as his many hunting buddies.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, September 15th at 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at Zoeller Funeral Home. Interment will be in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, September 17th, at 11 o’clock at First Protestant Church, corner of S. Seguin and Coll Streets in New Braunfels. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be offered to First Protestant Church or the Sophienburg Museum and Archive.
