Carol was born and raised in New Braunfels, TX on December 24, 1942 to Monroe and Angeline Borgfeld. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Powers, her sister Cynthia Borgfeld Smith and husband Bill Smith and siblings-in-law Mattie, Clara, Cecil, James, and Bobbi.
Carol first met her husband Edward “Ed” Powers on the dance floor at Gruene Hall while he was taking weekend leave from Randolph Air Force Base and married her “Doll” on March 20, 1965 in New Braunfels, TX. They were married for 57 years before he passed and had one child, Victor Powers. Carol worked a long successful career at Southern Bell Company and later AT&T before retiring in 2004.
Carol loved her family and her Lord; she would often spend time talking about her faith and was always quick to tell you like it is. She enjoyed taking the time to get dressed up and hit the town and could always be seen with a Dr. Pepper in hand or somewhere nearby. There was not a Thanksgiving, Easter, or family event that was complete without Carol’s famous pina colada cake! When she wasn’t spending time with family and friends, Carol could be found serving in the community.
Carol is survived by her son, Victor Powers, siblings-in-law, Stella, Jesse (Odessa), Margie, Mary Ellen (Jean), and Leila; her nieces and nephews and a whole host of “adopted” nieces and nephews in Houston, TX.
The Powers family would like to thank everyone who has given their time, love, condolences and support during this time.
The visitation for Mrs. Powers will be Saturday February 8th, 2025 from 10am -12 pm at Zoeller Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow immediately afterwards.
