

Charlene Harrison Page, longtime resident of Friendswood, passed away on Saturday, January 11th at the age of 71 in her Canyon Lake home. She was born on Thursday, October 8th 1953 in Galveston where she grew up in Alta Loma living the country life with dogs, chickens, cows, a horse, and a very large garden. Her family spent idyllic summers camping on Galveston’s East Beach and while Charlene would be playing in the surf, and exploring the beach’s treasures, her father would comb the sloughs for seafood feasts of fish, shrimp, and crab.
She graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1971 and the University of Houston in 1975 with a B.S. in Home Economics. After graduation she worked as a piping designer for Shell and after her kids were school age she worked in special education, and administration at Westwood Elementary and Windsong Intermediate in Friendswood ISD.
She volunteered with the Friendswood PTA, Twirling, and Band Programs while her children were in school and was a prolific decorative artist throughout her life. An active member of painting groups in the Bay Area and Hill Country, Charlene served multiple terms as President of the Decorative Artists of Texas. She lived in Yokohama, Japan for two years with her husband and relished in the international experiences that afforded them. Once they settled back in Texas, Charlene spent more time enjoying the view of her gardens from the swimming pool and loving on her dogs and children.
Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, Lilian Baron and Charles George Harrison and survived by Steven Earle, her husband of 47 years, their two children Stephanie Elaine and Mathew Jake Harrison, as well as the family’s 4 dogs.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service in her honor at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels, TX on Saturday, March 1st at 1 PM.
