Vivia Charlotte Sears was born to Fred and Ramie Aylne Sears on September 22, 1943, in Mansfield, Louisiana. She attended Isola High School in Mississippi, where she was a center on the school basketball team. She lived most of her life in Alabama, where she worked various jobs. When she wasn’t working, she liked to spend her time outdoors planting flowers. While she loved planting colorful flowers, her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her best and most wonderful attribute was her giving heart. She volunteered her free time at the V.F.W. and her local volunteer fire department. Her heart was so big that, on many occasions, her family did not know who was sitting next to them at Thanksgiving, as she was known to invite the entire neighborhood to eat at their house. She wanted to ensure they all had a place to go and a family to spend the holiday with.
Known for her sweet and caring nature, Charlotte had a heart full of warmth and kindness. Beneath that gentle exterior was a feisty side that could often surprise those around her. Her fierce competitive streak usually led to friendly banter and, on occasion, arm wrestling with her Pastor, Marshall Douglas.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her father, Fred Sears; her mother, Ramie Aylne Sears; her sister, Freda Shack; and her brother, Bill Sears.
Charlotte is survived by her son, Tony (Tina) Collins of Lockhart, TX; daughter, Tina Rae Collins of Archdale, NC; and Step-Son Billy (Teresa) Cox of AL; brother, Lonnie (Ila) Sears of MS.; Sisters, Qwen (Richard) Smith of FL, Nell Kavanaugh of MS, Ramona (Bud) Norris of MO, and Sheila Jackson of MS; Grandchildren, Trey (Jennie) Hewitt of Zebulon, NC, April Hewitt of Ocala, FL, Amanda Hewitt of Lake Wylie, SC, Cierra Collins and Christopher Collins of Lockhart, TX; Great-Grandchildren, Raelynn Hewitt, Rylee Hewitt, and Reese Hewitt of Zebulon, NC, and Rebecca Story of Ocala, FL.
Per Charlotte's wishes, no services will be held before Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas, performs cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Maxwell Community Volunteer Fire Department addressed to P.O. Box 216, Maxwell, Texas, 78656
