Clifton Wayne McCaskill

He is survived by his wife, Monica Franklin of Canyon Lake, Texas; daughter, Lauren Vaneman and husband Stephen of Austin, Texas; son, Ryan McCaskill and wife Keila of Austin, Texas; son, Samuel McCaskill and wife Lauren of League City, Texas; mother, Betty McCaskill of Houston, Texas; sister, Sammie Arwady and husband Bob of Houston, Texas; sister, Belinda Winfield and husband Bobby Lipinsky of Alvin, Texas; uncle, Clifton McCaskill, Jr. of Rosenberg, Texas; aunt, Merle Pool of Richmond, Texas; step-daughter, Crystal Cavazos and husband Michael of Houston, Texas; step-daughter Tehile Carachure and husband Ray of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Isabella Martinez, Jiovanni Saenz, Raymond Carachure, Bryce Carachure, Liam Carachure, Rome Garcia, and Amaya Loterbaugh; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel O. McCaskill.

Cliff was a transmission mechanic by trade, and in 1979, he built and opened his own location of Astro Transmissions, Inc. in southwest Houston at only 22 years of age. His shop operated for more than 25 years, and the neon signs and building are still in use and visible from the Southwest Freeway today. He was fond of watching football, listening to country music, and spending time on the water. He especially loved getting together with friends and family and reminiscing on good times. Cliff deeply respected the Bible as God’s Word, and he enjoyed reflecting on his Creator’s promise of seeing his dead loved ones again, especially his father, Sam.

A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 PM Friday, April 5, 2019 at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas.
