

Clifton C. Schrader, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in New Braunfels, TX on December 18, 2015. He was born on November 15, 1929, to Charlie and Gladys Schraeder in Gonzales, TX. He was raised on a cotton farm through the great depression and WWII where he learned the value of hard work and perseverance. He earned degrees from Trinity University, Texas A&M and SWTSU. A career Air Force officer and Viet Nam veteran, he served 24 years as a navigator, master pilot and ROTC instructor. He retired in 1975 as a Lt. Colonel. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career as he taught history at New Braunfels Middle School and was active in his church. A past President of New Braunfels Lions Club and member of the VFW, Clif gave of himself throughout his life. He was an avid golfer and gardener and enjoyed both for as long as his health allowed. A loving husband, brother and father he is survived by his wife Sharon, sister Virgie and husband, Jeff Van Kleef, brother, Vernon “Buddy” Schrader and wife, Barbara, daughter Kathy Schrader, and son, Ken Schrader and favorite daughter-in-law, Elke, step-sons, Dan Bauer and Vincent Bauer, 5 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 181 Santa Clara Ave., New Braunfels, TX at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 23, 2015.
