It was in Houston that he met the love of his life, Geneva Smith. They spent more than 60 years together, raising their family in Houston, Shreveport, Tyler, and New Braunfels. David said his greatest accomplishment was raising his kids. They enjoyed camping in the Ozarks, but, his favorite destination was cruising to Alaska.
Geneva and David Giese were charter members of Oakwood Baptist Church where they enjoyed teaching children in Sunday school. They created lasting friendships with the children, many of whom came back to visit them later in life. In recent years, David was a member of First Baptist Church, New Braunfels.
David’s career was in banking and office machine sales and service. He started his own company D&D Checkwriter and worked in close association with Frost Bank, traveling throughout Texas to service their office machinery at their various locations. He was dedicated to his clients and worked up until he was 86 years of age, only retiring when declining health dictated.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Geneva, by his parents William and Dorothy Giese, and by his brother, Bill Giese. David is survived by two sons, Darrell Giese and wife Vay Lynn of Houston, and Steve Giese and wife Kim of Tuttle, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his daughter and devoted caregiver, Laura Giese Weber and her husband Scott of New Braunfels; two grandchildren, Ali Pool and husband Jeff, and Steven Giese Jr. and wife Catie, as well as two great grandsons, Ezra and Sterling, along with several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family is grateful for the loving support of Mona Pantoja, caregiver, and his neighbor, Jeff Nemec, EdenHill nurse Leslie Turby, and therapist, Tyrome Higgins, COTA. Also, special thanks to Hope Hospice and EdenHill Communities for the compassionate care expressed toward the Giese family.
