David Eugene Meyer began his life in rural Nebraska on June 24, 1954. Thanks to his mother, Jenetia Pratt, he had Native American tenacity in his blood. His Father Dave Meyer imparted him with a deep sense of responsibility and respect.
He lived every day since on his own terms. He didn’t believe in compromise for himself or his family.
He was an entrepreneur, father, salesman, husband, truck driver, mentor, Captain, contractor, motorcycle rider, auto mechanic, competition roller-skater, cousin, award-winning water skiier and the best breakfast chef, ever.
He flexed a lot of muscles in his life, but none more passionately than his heart. He was tough but fair, headstrong while compassionate and the most honest man any of us ever knew.
Sadly that big heart took him away from us on December 8, 2020 and our own hearts will struggle to fill that loss for the rest of our lives.
He is survived by the woman he truly put above all others, Debbie Meyer. Making her happy was one of the great joys of his life.
His three children, Kelly, Damey and Shane Meyer will continue his legacy of love and responsibility as best they can.
In lieu of a ceremony the family had a private viewing on Saturday December 12 and will schedule a Celebration of Dave’s Life at a time when the safety of family and friends can be observed.
