Ena Maitland Stewart Sarlo of New Braunfels, was born on August 5, 1930 in Glasgow, Scotland and passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2024 surrounded by her family. She married the love of her life, Rocco J Sarlo, on September 17, 1952 in Glasgow, Scotland and later moved to the United States on
Christmas Eve in 1953. A true adventurer, Ena was the first in her family to move from of Scotland to the United States. She was never short on faith, always provided an encouraging word and lived life
to the fullest. She always rose to a challenge, starting several businesses with her husband, traveling the world and inspiring her children and grandchildren to do the same.
Ena was preceded in death by her husband Rocco Joseph Sarlo on September 5, 2009 and by her parents and siblings. She is survived by her two daughters, Pamela Kraft and husband Gregory, and Linda Gutierrez and husband Hector; and son, Jeffery Sarlo and wife Earlene. Grandchildren, Rocco Justin Moses, Christin Moses, Cassie Kraft Tenorio and Maitlyn Kraft; step-grandchildren, Megan Sarlo, Frank Gutierrez and Malia Gutierrez. She most adored her great grandchildren and loved the visits from
those that lived locally, Bryson, Hugh, Olivia, Carson and Rocco.
Her most proud moments were giving them rides on her walker and watching them play together. Ena and her late husband were avid dancers at the Elks Lodge and surrounding dance halls. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Opti-Mrs., and Lady Elks for many years. What brought her the most joy was taking care of and treating the grandchildren to long afternoons at Mr. Gatti’s and taking them to see their favorite movies. She will be missed dearly and be thought of daily by her loving family. With very grateful hearts our family is so thankful for Debbie Fendley and all the staff at Gruene Senior Living. The care and love that they show each and every resident is so special. Also, we are indebted to Gentiva Hospice Care for the quick aid and kindness of all the staff that cared for our Mother during her final days.
A private burial for the family will take place in Houston at Forest Park Westheimer this Sunday, July 7, 2024. A celebration of life will be held at The Allen Farmhaus on July 13th from 10:00am-1:00pm.
