Gayland Maurice Martin

He was born to George Washington Martin and Willie Lorene (Smith) Martin in Clovis, New Mexico on August 7, 1936. Gayland never met a stranger and was always ready with a funny story so he had many friends. His daily routine was to have breakfast with friends and then to visit the thrift stores and make the day sunnier for the volunteers. They were all a special part of his day.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Martin; sons, Kelvin Martin and Gregory Martin; daughter, Jamie Martin all of New Braunfels; sisters, Neola Leach of Kilgore, TX, Joy Thomas of Irving, TX and Kay Pitt of Kilgore, TX; special great-niece, Kristian Hamilton and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

The family wishes to thank the nurses at Hope Hospice who made a difficult journey so much easier.

Public visitation will begin 5:00 PM Monday at Zoeller Funeral Home and will continue until service time. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Zoeller Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be given to Hope Hospice New Braunfels.
