

Gerald Hubert Kastner of New Braunfels, Texas passed away Friday, January 24, 2025 at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 16, 1940 to Hubert Kastner and Verenia Elizabeth (Schilling) Kastner.
Jerry married his devoted wife Karen Marie Meyer June 20, 1964. Together they raised three beautiful daughters; Lisa, Julia, and Beverly.
Jerry loved most his faith, family and country. At St. Ignatius Loyola in Spring Texas, he served as the Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus for two and a half years. There he also volunteered and was very passionate about spreading awareness about human trafficking. Jerry was also extremely supportive of Covenant House. When he and Karen moved to New Braunfels Texas, Jerry became a member of the St. Joseph's Honey Creek Knights of Columbus. Jerry had a sense of humor like no other, and a great gift of telling jokes. Jerry was the "favorite uncle" to many of his numerous nieces and nephews. He was loved and adored by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, brother, sister and numerous in-laws. He thoroughly enjoyed all types of music and was a tremendous drummer. He started his own band, "The Gerald Kastner Band" and played at countless events for years. His business career was in sales which was perfect for him.
Jerry will always be remembered for being hard working, loyal, compassionate, hilarious, creative and loving person to everyone that had the privilege to know him. Jerry's last emphatic words "Jesus, my Lord, my Savior".
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Verenia Kastner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 1/2 years, Karen (Meyer) Kastner; sister Susan (Kastner) James and husband Ronald; brother Robert Kastner; daughters Lisa Marie (Kastner) Jordan and husband Miguel; Julia Lynn (Kastner) Scanlon and husband Kenny; and Beverly Ann Kastner; grandchildren Lauren (Jordan) McMahan and husband Patrick; Zachary Jordan; Noah Scanlon and wife Maddi; Creed Scanlon, and Gideon Kastner; and great grandson Owen McMahan.
A visitation for Gerald will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church - Honey Creek, 25781 TX-46, Spring Branch, TX 78070. A funeral mass will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the entombment at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. Lunch will be provided following the entombment.
