Born on the family farm in New Braunfels on July 11, 1929, Grace was the youngest daughter of Adeline Triesch (née Kessler) and Walter Triesch. She was baptized and confirmed at First Protestant Church and graduated from New Braunfels High School in the Class of 1947. On November 28, 1954, she married the love of her life, Alton Dreyer.
A gifted organist and pianist, Grace dedicated her life to music, taking lessons from an early age and sharing her talents with numerous congregations. Through her music, she expressed her deep faith and devotion, using her gift to glorify God and uplift the hearts of those around her. She played for countless worship services, funerals, and weddings throughout her lifetime, including tenures at First Protestant Church, St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Cibolo, and St. Joseph’s Anglican Church in New Braunfels. She also was organist for Zoeller Funeral Home, volunteered to share music at Eden Home, and played piano for the Cloverleaf Orchestra for 50 years, over 30 of those alongside her husband, Alton, who played trumpet. She was pianist and a member of the Gemischter Chor Frohsinn singing club and a 75-year member of Hermann Sons New Braunfels Lodge No. 21.
Whether she was known as Grace, Gracie, Omie, or Mom, her unconditional love, generous spirit, and sense of humor were gifts to many, but most of all to those blessed to call her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters-in-law Kenneth and Betty Triesch and Randolph and Elvira Triesch; sister-in-law Margaret Boecker and husband Otwin; brother-in-law Winfred Dreyer and wife Leona; husband Alton Dreyer; infant son Sandlin Dale Dreyer; son-in-law Richard Ziperman; and nephews Bruce Triesch and Michael Triesch.
Grace will be remembered as a strong, kind, and resilient woman who loved deeply. She touched many lives throughout her 95 years and set an example for all her family to admire and follow. Her legacy lives on in two loving daughters, Gayle Stroh and husband Glenn Stroh, Sr. of Marion, and Susan Ziperman of Coppell, as well as her four grandchildren and their families: Glenn Clay Stroh Jr., wife Lauren, and son Benjamin Alton; Amanda Kay Stroh; Emily Dreyer Ziperman Pranske and husband Zachary; and Mary Grace Ziperman. She is also survived by nieces Wendy Triesch Reinke and Annelle Dreyer Clements; nephews Wayne Triesch, Mark Triesch, Jon Triesch, and Dennis Dreyer; cousin Frances Triesch Ross; and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home on Sunday, April 6, from 3:00-7:00pm. A private family burial service will take place on the morning of Monday, April 7, followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 am at First Protestant Church in New Braunfels, Texas, with a reception to follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Music Ministry of First Protestant Church or Eden Home in New Braunfels, Texas.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Christus Santa Rosa Hospital for their exceptional care, as well as the dedicated medical professionals who helped Grace enjoy a long and fulfilling life.
