

He is preceded in death by his father Francisco Salazar, mother Maria Rios, brother Arthur and sister Sebera Muñoz. Ismael is survived by his wife of 56 years, Irenia, son Ismael Jr. (Gisela), son Israel (Rachel) and daughter Isabel Garza (Arthur) all of New Braunfels; grandchildren Stephanie Marie, Irenia Emilia and Ediovany Maria Salazar, Delicia Carrasco (Donavon), Artie and Freddie Garza; great grandchildren Jocelyn and Jenna McCurdy, and Christopher Carrasco; and his brother Adolpho Salizar of San Antonio along with many other family members and friends.
Ismael served honorably in the US Air Force and US Army and was a retired US Postal Service carrier.
The family would like to send a very special thank you to Olga Herrera and Virginia Gomez for their at-home care and support, and a special thank you to Sundance Inn Healtcare Center caregivers Vicki Muñoz and Mary. Finally, a special thank you to the Christus Santa Rosa Hospital New Braunfels (Surgical floor) staff.
Visitation will begin at noon Sunday at Zoeller Funeral Home and continue until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. A rosary will be recited on Monday at 7pm in the Zoeller Funeral Home chapel. A procession will depart the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011 for a funeral mass at the Holy Family Church New Braunfels at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Ft. Sam Houston Cemetery at 1:45 p.m. with military honors.
