Captain James Williams, a native of New Braunfels, died at age 45 early Monday morning from complications of diabetes. Mr. Wiliiams was a lifelong fisherman and owned and operated The Fisherking Fishing Guide Service where he guided fishing trips on Canyon Lake and at Port O'Connor. He held a US Coast Guard Captain’s license for the past eight years. Williams had a true passion for fishing, and loved sharing that passion with family, friends and clients. Everyone knew that if you fished with James Williams, you would always catch fish. He was also an avid hunter, and loved teaching his grandsons how to bird hunt. Williams was a master electrician, a/c and heating technician, and contracted remodeler. From beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture to uniquely tiled bathrooms and floors, every job he completed was truly a work of art.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Barbara Williams; daughters Jamie Lee, Korena Williams and Amy Sadler all of New Braunfels, sons Christopher Wilson of New Braunfels and Matt Sadler and his wife, Becca of Austin; his mother, Kathy Williams and stepfather Edward Williams, brothers John Haas and Joe Williams, and sister Laury Ann Williams, four grandsons Sam Sadler, Sprague Wilson, Zackary Williams, and Levi Mackillican are all residents of New Braunfels. His father, David Locken, is a resident of Claremore, Okla., where his brother Donnie Locken and Sister Erica Locken also reside.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 at 6 p.m., with a short memorial service beginning at 7 p.m, and continuing with family and friends afterward. The gathering will be held at 122 Camp Porter Road in New Braunfels.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Diabetes Association or the Comal County WORD Kids Fish program.
