Johnnie J. Mondin Jr.

Johnnie J. Mondin, 86 of New Braunfels, TX passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Retama Manor Nursing Center in Pleasanton, Texas. He was born to John James Mondin and Edna Templin Mondin in Seguin, Texas on July 23, 1930

Johnnie married his high school sweetheart Theora and they enjoyed 56 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. He retired from Wuest’s Supermarket after 43 years of employment. He loved traveling and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be rembember for his sense of humor and the loving way he liked to tease and joke with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Mondin Melenyzer of New Braunfels; brother, Kenneth Mondin of Seguin; sister, Jo Carolyn Harborth and husband Leslie of Geronimo; brother, Hilmar Louis Mondin and wife Margaret of Seguin; sister, Helen Agnes Wall and husband Bob of Seguin; grandchildren, Brandon Crabill of Florida and Rebecca Gomez and husband Anthony of Katy, TX; and 5 great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Theora Mondin; and brothers, Leslie and Edward Mondin.

Public Visitation will begin 5:00 PM Thursday at Zoeller Funeral Home with a Vigil Service and Rosary to be held at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 noon Friday, April 28, 2017 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Reverend Tony Pesek- Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. James Catholic Cemetery at 3:00 PM in Seguin, Texas. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
