

Joyce Elaine Hardin Devore was born on April 13,1924 in San Antonio, TX to Elbert Columbus Hardin and Ethel Ivey Hardin. When Joyce was five years old, her family moved to their family farm south of Kenedy, TX.
Later, as an adult, Joyce moved back to San Antonio to enter the workforce. In San Antonio, through a blind date, she met an impressive Army Air Corps Aviator named Andy Devore who was stationed at Randolph Field. They eventually wed in a military chapel on June 28, 1942. For the next twenty years, Joyce traveled around the world as a military wife and mother. She and Andy were blessed with four children; Rowland (Randy,) Cynthia (DeDe,) Jaye Lynn, and Susan.
After Andy’s military retirement, the couple moved to Canyon Lake, TX where they were involved in their church and community. Andy passed away after the couple celebrated 41 years of marriage. Joyce remained at Canyon Lake, eventually moving to the Highland Springs Retirement Community in Dallas, TX. Throughout her life, Joyce touched many lives while embracing the love of the Lord.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Elbert and Ethel Hardin and her siblings; her husband, Andy Devore; daughter, Cynthia Schaefer; daughter, Jaye Lynn Wood; son, Randy Devore; and grandson, Justin Wood. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Marshall and son-in-law Randy Marshall; son-in-law Chris Wood; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Joyce will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Zoeller Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. until Service time at 1:00 p.m. The Committal Service will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the White Bluff Chapel in Whitney, TX
