Marion Minnie Teal passed away Tuesday, June 02, 2021 at the age of 88. She was currently residing at Elan Westpointe Assisted Living in New Braunfels, TX. She was born in San Antonio, TX on September 26, 1932 to Rudolph and Minnie (Hierholzer) Wegner. She was raised in Fashing, TX near Karnes City. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Charles Wegner and husband of 55+ years, Charles Houston Teal. Marion graduated from Southwest Texas State Teachers College in 1953 with a BA in Education. She met Charles while attending college. After graduation, she traveled alone to Heidelberg, Germany to join Charles while serving in the Army. They married in 1954 and immediately started a family. In 1956, they returned back to Texas to raise their family. Marion’s favorite saying was “I had four (4) children in five (5) years”. She is survived by her daughter Katherine Grothues (Greg); daughter Debbie Teal-Fries (Bob), son Stephen (Sonjia) and son Robert (Mary Alice). She had 6 grandchildren Paul Teal (Soo), Tara Ducrest (Chip), and Daniel Teal (Diana); Sarah Moreau (Jason), Brandon Grothues, and Christopher Santos (Marisa). 3 great-grandchildren (Morgan Ducrest, David Ducrest, and Christopher Santos, Jr.) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Marion was independent, loving and always pleasant natured. She loved history and spoke fondly of her German heritage. She especially liked conversing with people. She was a stranger to no one. She was also a lady of many talents. She designed their home in Bulverde, TX along with her multiple gardens, water features, and beautiful landscape. She was known for having a green thumb. She raised butterflies and loved birds, especially her canaries. The family would like to thank her previous caregivers (Rosie, Margie and Lindy) and Elan Westpointe for all of their care and compassion.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 9 am until Service time at 11 am at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels, TX. Burial will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. After the burial, a reception will follow back at Zoeller. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice, 611 N Walnut Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130.
