Martha was preceded in death by her parents, John D. and Catherine Kinsfather; her beloved husband, Norman Glenewinkel Sr.; her five brothers, Amel, John, Dan, Reuben, and Arthur Kinsfather; and her sweet granddaughter, Terrie Glenewinkel.
Martha was a woman of great faith who was devoted to God, her family, and her church. Her husband, Norman, was her constant, faithful companion for more than 66 years. They shared a special love and an unshakeable commitment to each other. Martha was a dignified lady who took great pride in keeping a beautiful, immaculate home, and showing her hospitality to all who visited.
She deeply loved her children and grandchildren, endeavoring to instill Christian values in them. She and Norman were members of the First United Pentecostal Church (UPC) of New Braunfels, which was founded by her father in 1938 and continued by her brother Amel. Later they were charter members of the Greater Life UPC of New Braunfels. Martha was a church pianist for over 30 years and served as a Sunday School teacher and leader of the Ladies Auxiliary. She lived her faith by giving to the church and to others of her time, talents, finances, and love.
Martha worked at the Comet Hosiery Mill in the early 1950’s. This job was followed by several sales positions including Avon sales lady, at which she excelled. After her children were grown, Martha worked for approximately 20 years in medical records at Oak Crest Inn and McKenna Memorial Hospital. She earned her certification as a Medical Records Practitioner from National Living Centers. Martha was a conscientious, dedicated employee who earned high praise and commendation from her various employers.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Kathryn (Kathy) Lindner and her husband, Henry of Houston; her son, Norman Glenewinkel Jr. (Glen) and his wife, Mary Anne of Bulverde; four grandchildren - Krisi Wood, Beth Daniels, Michelle Shelton and husband Eddie; and Jay Glenewinkel. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the caregivers at Eden Hill for their kindness and care during Martha’s time with them. Gratitude is also expressed to the staff of Hope Hospice for their compassionate care near the end of Martha’s life.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa St., New Braunfels, Texas. The funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at Zoeller Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Comal Cemetery. A reception will follow at Greater Life Church, 130 Enchantment Lane, New Braunfels, Texas.
