Melvin proudly and faithfully served his country in the Navy and was a Korean War Veteran. He worked in the Uranium mines in Colorado for many years. He retired from Exxon Mobil in 1995. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, camping, working on cars and he loved to read.
He is survived by his wife Maria G. Pratte of New Braunfels, Texas, sister: Marjorie Smith, children: Sonia Hernandez of New Braunfels, Texas, Rene and Kris Salazar of Austin, Texas, grandchildren: Ashley and Derek Roberts, Daniel and Ben Salazar, great grandchildren: Ayden, Connor, Aria and Lilia Roberts and son Ken Pratte.
Melvin will always be remembered as a loving husband and his love for the family. The Pratte family wishes to thank the many friends and relatives who have been a source of great and comforting strength.
He will be greatly missed. Love you Melvin. Rest in Peace.
Holy Mass will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 386 N Castell Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130, on June 5, 2020 at 2:00pm. Burial to follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, 301 Peace Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130.
