Patricia Sorrells Fox of New Braunfels, passed away on June 18, 2024, after a sudden illness. She was born on January 30, 1946, to Ahira Butler Sorrells and Mary Louise Lilley in Goose Greek, Texas, and was the oldest of five children. Throughout a somewhat nomadic upbringing that spanned Texas, Oklahoma, Montana, and Alaska, Pat’s father taught her to hunt and fish and cherish the beauty of nature. She was particularly close to her siblings, whom she helped raise at times, and found stability and comfort in the Catholic Church.
After falling in love with Michael James Fox, Jr. and blending their two families together in the Houston area, they added two children to the mix for a total of nine children between them. Together with friends and extended family members, Mike and Pat enjoyed taking road trips in a school bus they converted for everyone to enjoy. A favorite destination was the Mountain Breeze Campground in New Braunfels, where their large group would float the Guadalupe River by day and party by night.
Mike and Pat moved to New Braunfels in 1982 with their youngest children, where Pat worked as the Assistant Chief Appraiser for Comal County and later, as the Chief Appraiser for Guadalupe County. She was an active member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church for 42 years and served as a member of the original ACTS retreat team. At various times, Pat also taught Sunday School, coordinated Adoration schedules, served as a church liaison for marrying couples, and directed Day Retreats at Saints Peter and Paul.
Pat enjoyed helping people and at the age of 70, she was thrilled to land a part-time job with Visiting Angels as a Senior Care Companion. She absolutely loved visiting with her clients and assisting them with daily tasks. When that work became too much for her to handle, she started her own pet-sitting service, Caring Hearts, which allowed her to work from home.
The most important thing to Pat was family. She is survived by siblings, Molly Staples (Paul), Melinda Hatherly, and Michele Stevens (Buddy); children, Shelley Tholcken, Kay Calhoun (Steve), Michael James Fox III (Cheryl), Dee Logan (Steve), Timothy Fox (Debora), David Fox (Amber), Susannah (Angel) Smith, and Merrie Fox (Lisa); grandchildren, Christa Lampe (Adam), Leah Coutorie (Jonathan, Sr.), Julie Sammons (Brian), Jason Delgado (Rachel), Treesa Delgado, Carly Linder (Donald), Angie DeLaO (Nick), Jere Cargill (Meredith), Tiffany Shaw (Wesley), Trisha Hanka, Victoria Fox, Tarah Fox, David Fox, Jr (Megan), Kendall Jones (Brandon), AJ Soria (Sara), Lia Soria (Cory Keifer), April Soria, Joshua Smith (Kristen), Jared Smith, Jake Smith (Julia), Aleah Petmecky (Rene), Troy Petmecky, Alora Ferniz (Christian), Andrew Fox, Anthony Fox, and Adam Fox; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Julian, Jesse, and Judah Delgado, Jaedon Opsahl, James and Bailey Linder, Vincent and Miliana DeLaO, Paten, Langston, and Addison Johnson, Caleb and Cannon Sammons, JW and Ava Smith, Colton Fox, Allison and Amy Jones, Amelia, Waylon, Otilia Fox, Maylee, Armando, and Gabriel Soria, Cora and Cobe Keifer, Audrine Cherry, Robert Oden, Heidi Fox, Carson and Scarlett Lampe, Amelia and Jonathan Jr Coutorie, Kinsley, Kelsey, and Kassidy Cargill, Olivia, Sophia, and Isabella Shaw, Ethan Hanka, Marcus Fairchild, and Cilian Fox; great-great grandchild, William Folk; family friend Ritchie Day; best friends Judith Mackey and Joann Burro; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her beloved chihuahua, Ruby Rose.
