

He was born October 9,1936 in Globe, Arizona to John and Pauline Trethewey.
During his highschool years he excelled in shotput, discus, drama, played the trumpet in the band and football where he was promptly nicknamed “Bull” by his coaches.
Robert attended both Arizona State University and Baylor University for his undergraduate studies, where he soon met and married Shirley Jean Teer on January 30 of 1959. Together they raised two children, Joan and Kenneth, and were married for nearly 64 years.
After graduating cum laude from Texas Chiropractic College in March of 1963, Dr. Trethewey enjoyed a thriving career for 54 years serving patients across Texas who lovingly referred to him as “Dr. Bob”.
Retiring from private practice in Houston at the age of 62, Dr. Bob then continued his career for another 19 years by providing vacation office coverage and Chiropractic services for various colleagues across the state.
Robert was a devoted father, grandfather and friend who also enjoyed golfing, traveling the country in his motor home, serving as a deacon in his church, Broadway Baptist, on the school trustee board for Broadway Baptist School and singing in the choir and a Gospel Trio with his wife, Shirley.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Orrin Trethewey, mother Pauline Evadna Trethewey, and his two sisters, Mary Rose Brengle and Eloise McDuffy.
Robert is survived by his wife, Shirley Trethewey; daughter Joan Koenig (Trethewey) and her husband Mark; son Kenneth Trethewey and his wife Monica; 10 grandchildren Amarys, Kennan, Krysta, Asher, Jonathan, Moriah, Solomon, Mikayla, Charis and Emily; and his great-granddaughter Riley; his brother, John Orrin Trethewey, Jr. and wife Jeannine of Houston, nieces, nephews and many very close, long time family friends.
In honor of Dr. Robert Trethewey, DC, Texas Chiropractic Association will match scholarship funds made in his name for Texas Chiropractic College. Please consider contributing in lieu of flowers.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00am on Tuesday, January 3, 2022 at Faith Alive Church and public viewing at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels to be held on Monday, January 2nd from 5-8pm.
