Robert “Tito” Partida, 80, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Monday January 1, 2018 at Sodalis Memory Care Facility in New Braunfels, Texas. He endured a six year long battle to Alzheimer's disease. He fought hard until the very end. He was born to Tomas Partida and Estefana (Gonzales) Partida on May 4,1937 in New Braunfels. Robert graduated from New Braunfels Senior High School in 1956. In 1959, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served four years and received an honorable discharge in 1965 as a Corporal E-4 rank. He returned to New Braunfels to marry his sweetheart since middle-school, Delia Cobarruvias. They were married on August 15,1964 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. He attended Texas Fireman’s Training School and joined the New Braunfels Fire Department where he worked for thirty-three years until his retirement in 1997. Robert was the hardest worker and many people also knew him from his second job at JC Penney’s in downtown New Braunfels and later in San Marcos. He loved working with the public and could sell you just about anything.
Along with maintaining two jobs, Robert believed in public service and giving back to his community through volunteer work. Throughout his years he served on boards and held offices in many civic organizations in Comal County. They included past president of Comal Independent Men’s Association, Knights of Columbus member, board member of Mexican American Heritage Society, board member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Parish Council, advisory board member of Teen Connection, Chairman of American Red Cross Safety Programs, Health and Safety Programs Lamar Elementary, advisory board member for Adult Education C.I.S.D., member of the Sequicentennial Steering Committee and the Fireman’s Ball committee chairman.
Robert loved the beautiful game of golf and spent his retirement collecting and selling golf clubs and playing any chance he could get. He enjoyed bus trips to casinos with his wife and friends. He adored his only grandchild, Jett, and spent as much time as he could with him in Dallas. He was blessed with the “gift of gab” and never met a stranger. His biggest happiness came just from talking and telling stories. He was a devoted Catholic and his strong faith is what helped him get through many of life’s battles. He was very proud of his time as a marine and a fire fighter. Being a public servant was what he was called to do. He will be greatly missed and remembered for the magnetic man that he was.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Delia Partida. He is survived by his daughters Elisa Ann Partida and husband Mark Steed of Cibolo, TX and Robbie Partida-Kipness and husband Jason Kipness of Dallas, TX; son Robert Joseph Partida of New Braunfels, TX; grandson, Jett Robert Kipness of Dallas, TX; brothers Tomas Partida, Cruz Partida, Arturo Partida; and sister Mary Jane Morales.
