

Ruben “Porky” Gonzales, 83, of New Braunfels passed away on Wednesday May 21, 2014 at the Warm Springs Specialty Hospital. He was born to Victor and Concepcion Gonzales in New Braunfels on March 22, 1931. Ruben was a lover of music and played many instruments including guitar, accordion, clarinet, flute and saxophone. He retired from Mission Valley Textile Mill after many years of employment. In his retirement years he enjoyed helping others and was very handy at fixing appliances and repairing things. He loved the company of family and friends.
He is survived by sons, Ruben Gonzales Jr. and wife Martha; Rodolfo Gonzales; and Ricardo Gonzales and wife Antonia; daughters, Juanita Altamirano; Anita Gonzales; and Eva Gonzales; brothers, Eloy Gonzales and Jaime Gonzales; and sister, Lydia Martinez; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Josephine Gonzales; brother, Gilbert Gonzales; granddaughter, Victoria Gonzales; and grandson, Alvaro Altamirano.
Public Visitation will begin 5:oo PM Wednesday at Zoeller Funeral Home and will continue until 9:00 PM with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM.
Visitation will continue Thursday at the Funeral Home from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM when the service departs in procession to the church. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Reverend Camillo Botello, MSF – celebrant. Arrangements under the direction of Zoeller Funeral Home, New Braunfels, TX.
