Upon graduating from New Braunfels High School, she worked in civil service at JBSA—Randolph until 1972. Sue met Maurice Edward Ward of San Antonio at Gruene Hall, and they married in June 1964.
After volunteering at school events, Sue became a teacher’s aide at Frazier Elementary School until 1990, when she relocated with Maurice to Grapevine, TX. While there, she worked in the Grapevine Colleyville School District. After moving back to New Braunfels in 1992, Sue was employed with R & S Dairy Queen until her retirement in 2012.
Sue enjoyed playing Bunco, cards, and dominos with friends and family. She loved to cheer on the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. She and Maurice were active members of the Bluebonnet Region Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, where they showcased their classic cars.
Sue is survived by her daughters Karen Diane Ward and Janet Suzanne Ward, brother Paul Hinman and his wife Janice, beloved nieces, cousins, and her "grand-pup" Belle Maeve. She is preceded in death by her parents, Annette Blanche Hinman and Leroy Hinman, and her husband, Maurice.
On behalf of the family, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to Drs. Madson Lowry, Ronnie Garcia, David Hernadez, and Terri Horan, as well as the Hope Hospice staff. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels or the Guadalupe County Humane Society.
A public visitation for Sue will be held Friday, March 14, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Zoeller Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., followed by a procession to Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
