

Veda, a beloved wife, mother, nana, friend, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024 at the age of 74. She left this world surrounded by her loving family and was welcomed into God’s arms. She is survived by her loving husband, Joe Blevins, her daughter Tawana Goerler, son-in-law Thomas Goerler; and grandchildren Erik, Jacob, and Shelby Goerler, her sisters Nancy Privett and Esther Perry, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Born on January 2, 1950, in Oneida, TN and raised in McCreary County, KY. There she developed her strong sense of family values and compassion for others. She was the daughter of Travis and Sarah (Belle) Watson and was the youngest of seven siblings.
She is preceded in death by both parents, Brothers Leland Watson and Delmas Watson, Sisters Cleora Blevins, Cordelia Massengale.
Veda had a zest for life, filled with love, laughter, and compassion. She touched the hearts of all who knew her and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.
Veda and Joe Blevins shared 57 beautiful years of marriage, filled with love and devotion to one another and God. She was a military spouse who unwaveringly supported her husband’s 20-year career.
Veda was known for going above and beyond for those she loved, especially her children and grandchildren, she was there supporting and guiding them every step of the way. Her family was her pride and joy, and she enjoyed spending time with them, creating precious memories that will be treasured forever. From family game nights, Sunday dinners, random phone calls, sleep overs, and family vacations, she was there for them all with a smiling face ready to have fun with her family.
In her free time, Veda loved reading, spending time with family, dote on her dogs, and motorcycle trips with her husband. She enjoyed cooking, creating chocolate candies, baking and decorating cakes. She loved working with the 3-4-year-old children at her local church teaching Sunday School. She worked many years as an assistant to the pastor, which only fortified her love for the Lord.
Veda will always be remembered for her unwavering love, compassion, and generosity. She touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness. Her legacy of love and compassion continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her, to live their lives through Christ, and cherish everyday with your loved ones. But most importantly, she was the friend you could always rely on, to have your back, be a shoulder to cry on, and provide support and love no matter the challenges you were facing.
Veda will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory live on in the hearts of those she loved and touched, and may she rest in eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation in memory of Veda Blevins.
Veda’s life will be honored and remembered at a memorial service on Thursday, June 20 at 10am.
