

William H. “Bill” Brown was born in Weston, West Virginia to Madeline and William L. Brown on January 16, 1934 and passed away on October 4, 2014 at age 80.
Bill is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 57 years. Joann Salge Brown of New Braunfels, Tx. Sons, Billy Brown and wife, Donna, of Harwood, Tx; Mark Brown and wife, Chris, of New Braunfels, Tx; and Steven Brown and wife, Christie, of San Antonio, Tx; grandchildren Robert Brown and his wife, Margot, Jessica Brown Mccoy and her husband, Holt, Stephanie Heine and Lindsey Harris, Bobby Heine, Brandi Brown and Mike Cimental, Hunter Brown, Kailey Brown, and Kyler Brown; great grandson Steel Mccoy. Bill was preceded in death by grandson Will Brown. Will and Bill have now joined each other in heaven to prepare a special place for the rest of the family.
Bill and his family were charter members of Faith United Church of Christ. He retired from City Public Service as Supervisor of Consumer Services after 37 years in the utility business. Bill was very civic minded and elected as New Braunfels City Council representative 1972-1975, Serving as Mayor of New Braunfels November 1973 – November 1975; he was also elected to the Edwards Underground Water District as a representative of Comal County serving from January 1979 to November 1980. He resigned when asked to serve on the New Braunfels Utility Board by New Braunfels City Council and was Chairman of the New Braunfels Utilities from 1980- 1985, He was a 20 year board member of the Selective Service System. He served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. He was Senior Director, Comal County Fair Association, Senior Director, Wurstfest Association, member of The American Legion Post 179, order of the sons of Hermann Lodge 21, Fraternal Order Of Eagles Aerie 2999, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8541, Sophienburg Memorial Museum Association (Life Member), past president AARP Chapter 1823, and past president New Braunfels American Little League. Although nominated several times as a living legend our dad will always be a New Braunfels Living Legend to us.
Services will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Tx on Wednesday, October 8. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:00PM with a memorial service immediately following at 2:00 PM. There will not be a graveside services.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassion, love and respect Bill received at Colonial Manor Care Center, Specifically by Mason Weems, RN, who will always be remembered.
