

Angelo Pavano, 96, of New Britain, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving and devoted family, on June 1, 2017. He was born in New Britain a son of the late Carmelo and Salvatrice (Diciccio) Pavano. His family returned to Sicily, Italy when he was 11 months old. At seventeen Angelo came back to America and the first thing he did was attend night school to learn English. Angelo was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church. He faithfully served his country during World War II in the United States Army, from 1943-1946 in the Medical Detachment 43rd Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron. He was co-founder and owner operator with his brothers Frank and Joseph of the Pola Marie Fashions. Upon his brother’s retirement, his son Carl became co-owner and operator with him. He was a member of the Generale Ameglio, New Britain Elks Club and Italian Fraternal Society. Angelo enjoyed his annual vacation at Water’s Edge in Westbrook, watching his grandchildren’s school and sporting events and dining out. Being a subscriber to Prevention Magazine for 40 years he lived an active healthy lifestyle, eating right with regular daily exercise which attributed to his longevity.
He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 32 years, Pauline LaRosa. He is survived by longtime companion Venera LoPizzo of Wethersfield, his daughter Joyce Bukowski and her husband Thomas of Berlin, his two sons Carl Pavano and his wife AnnMarie of Southington and Joseph Pavano and Judy Gordon of New Britain, his six grandchildren, JoAnn Melluzzo and Michelle DeGennaro both of Southington, Carl Pavano of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Craig Bukowski of West Hartford, Allison Mattivi of Denver, CO and Erica Bukowski of New York City, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Joseph, Frank, Thomas and Vincenzo Pavano, Concetta Urso and Mary Pappalardo.
Funeral services are Tuesday June 6, 2017, at 9AM from the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial, 10AM in St. Ann’s Church, 101 North St. Burial will follow with military honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Stanley St. all in New Britain. Visiting hours are Monday from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to Angelo’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
