He was born in Jamaica and retired from Hartford Hospital.
He was the son of the late, William and Hilda (Thompson) Smith.
He is survived by his son Alton Smith of New Britain and five grandchildren, Alton Smith Jr.; Jada Castillo; Jaraia Castillo; Jordan Smith and Jaremi Smith.
He is also survived by a sister, Marian Beckford and four brothers, Melvin Smith;
Archibal Smith; Zetroy Smith and Ardford Smith.
He leaves several nieces and nephews among them Evare Clarke
Funeral Services will be on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Pentecostal Deliverance Ministery, 31 Mather St. Hartford, CT.
Burial will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their last respects on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church.
