Cheryl A. “Cher” (Shanks) Todaro of Glastonbury passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28th, 2026 surrounded by her family. Born in Burlington, Vermont, on January 1st, 1947. Cheryl worked for CBT Bank full time and was a bartender part time at the Glastonbury Elks Club. She also worked at the Triangle and Diamond Restaurant while raising her four children. Cheryl later went on to pursue a career in credit and collections.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Eleanor (Hackworth) Shanks, and her eldest brother, Peter.
Cheryl is survived by her children, Renee Phelan; Teresa Cosenza (Steve); Rachel Zarrilli (Gianni); and David Todaro (Maria). She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Steven Anthony, Amanda, Jake, Julia, Gianni Jr., Nicole, Ashley, and David; as well as her cherished great-grandchildren, Briella, Aubryn, Luca, Nico, Noah, and Enzo.
She is further survived by her brothers, Timothy, Bruce, and Jeffrey Shanks.
We are eternally grateful for the wonderful staff at Riverside for caring for our mother during her final days.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
