Chester Sadowinski

Czeslaw (Chester) Sadowinski, 90 of New Britain died unexpectedly on Monday, September 6, 2010. He was born in Poland and in 1940 with his family was taken into Labor Camps in Russia. In 1942 joined the Allied forces under the British Command. He was transferred to Persia, Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Egypt until he found himself in Italy where her participated in the battle of Monte Cassino. He was awarded numerous medals among them the Monte Cassino Cross and the Italy Defense Star. From Italy he immigrated to England where he worked for 5 years, in 1951 with his family he immigrated to the United States. He lived in New Jersey for a short time, before moving to New Britain. Chester was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the General Haller Post #111; he retired from Fafnir Bearing Co. after 26 years of service. He is survived by his devoted wife of 21 years, Scholastyka (Gilewska-Kisluk) Sadowinski, his daughter, Irene Ciaffhelione and her husband, Philip of Southington; a son Richard Sadowinski and his wife, Francis of Canada; two step sons with their spouses, Richard and Betsy Kisluk of New Britain; Eugene and Danielle Kisluk of New York. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Bob Kobus of New Britain and Sheri Schwartz and her husband, Aden of Southington and cousins on the Kisluk and Sadowinski side. He was predeceased by a son, Joseph Sadowinski.

Funeral services will be on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 8:30 AM at the New Britain Memorial and Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain followed by the funeral liturgy at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday, 9, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home, (Directions, Exit 37 off I-84 take a right at the exit, 1 ½ miles on your right.)
