Christopher P. Baxer, 41, beloved husband of Marta (Mulyk) Baxer, of Southbury, was involved in a fishing accident in Madison County, Montana and died on Thursday June 23, 2011. Chris was born in New Britain Connecticut on October 2, 1969. Always full of life and laughter. You knew he was around with his powerful laugh and his fun spirit. I first met Chris at Ukrainian Plast Ski camp in Glen Falls, New York in December of 1981. Through the years we would meet at “Ukie” functions wave, say hello and smile. It all changed on March 4, 2000 when we both attended a Ukrainian formal dance. He asked me to dance and that was it! Our lives changed forever. He lived in Connecticut and I lived in Pennsylvania. He wasn’t the huge sports fan but would humor me just so we could have a mid week date at Yankee Stadium. Our weekends where spent on the road either heading north or south to visit each other, or traveling around the country while he was working on the fund-raising for the Museum he designed in Bound Brook New Jersey.
We married June 15, 2002 at Suzy-Q in the Catskills. During the 11 years we spent together we had great fun traveling: San Francisco, LA, Palm Springs, Seattle, Utah, Arizona, Antigua, Jamaica, Barbados, Bahamas, Cayman Island, Utah, Wyoming, Hawaii, Colorado, Victoria, Vancouver, Montreal, Maine, New Hampshire, Nova Scotia, Milan, New Port and many more.
We just returned on June 12 from the Bahamas celebrating our 9th anniversary. On June 15 we dined and celebrated again in New York what turned out to be our final anniversary.
Chris was energetic, creative, artistic, loving, caring, full of life and was taken much too soon from all of us. He was a loving husband, son, brother, son in law, brother in-law, uncle, god father and friend. Chris always loved the water, the great outdoors, and that is what has taken him away from all of us.
In addition to his beloved wife, Marta, he is also survived and will also be dearly missed by his mother Wanda, his father, Thomas, and special friend Rose Oppito, brother Peter and sister in law Lisa and their son Alexander, Uncle Paul and his wife Harumi and their son Andrew, Uncle Joseph and his wife, Barbara, Parents in-law Jaroslaw and Jaroslava Mulyk, brother in law Ihor Mulyk and his wife, Lisa and their children, Jonathan, Alexander and Gracianna, sister in law, Oksana Hurley and her husband Jim, and their children, Monica and Mark.
Christopher went to Sacred Heart School and St. Thomas Aquinas in New Britain, graduating in 1987, Pratt Institute, N Y C , 1992, member of Plast Inc, Ukrainian Scouting, in Hartford, St. Josaphat's Church, New Britain, New Britain Art League. His first job was with Castle Boos Inc., after college and currently employed by Marx/Okubo in Farmington.
