Czeslaw Karwowski

Czeslaw Karwowski, 74, of New Britain, beloved husband of Jadwiga (Downarska) Karwowski, lost his battle with cancer on Friday, January 29, 2016 at home, surrounded by his family. Born January 3, 1942 in Poland, Czeslaw was the son of the late Jan and Marianna (Przestrzelska) Karwowski. He was a farmer in Poland before immigrating to the USA where he worked for SALCO Furniture in Monroe, NY. Later moving to New Britain, Czeslaw worked many years for Leo’s Kitchen as a cabinet maker. He loved gardening, cooking, fishing and smoking meats, and especially time spent with family. In addition to his beloved wife Jadwiga, Czeslaw is survived by 6 children, Marzena Zalewski and husband Wieslaw of Coventry, Kazimierz Karwowski and wife Dorothy of Southington, Anna Zarzecki and husband Slawomir of New Britain, Dorota Szlejter and husband John of Southington, Beata Kurkowski and husband Karol of Southington, and Katarzyna Brzezicki and husband Artur of New Britain; 14 grandchildren, Robert, Diana, Alicia, Darek, Jessica, Tomasz, Patrycja, Dominic, Kristian, Natalia, Jacob, Alexander, Adrian, and Gabriela; a brother Wladyslaw in Poland; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 3 siblings, Anna, Maria, and Edward. Visitation will be Sunday, January 31 from 4-8pm at the New Britain Memorial Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain. Czeslaw’s Funeral will begin from the funeral home on Monday, Feb 1 at 8:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 9:30am at Sacred Heart Church, Broad Street, New Britain. Burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain.
