

Diane R. (Garbowski) Massi, 41, beloved wife of Michael Massi, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2017. She is now reunited with her late mother, Regina (Kropiewnicka) Garbowski, who predeceased her in 1976.
Diane was born on June 28, 1975, in New Britain, and was the beloved daughter of Kazimierz and Halina Garbowski. She attended Sacred Heart School and was a graduate of New Britain High School in 1993. She majored in Painting and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Connecticut State University. She had a deep appreciation for the arts and was commissioned by her Alma Mater to paint a mural in Maloney Hall. She was a gifted artist who enjoyed creating family keepsakes and mementos. She volunteered at the New Britain Museum of American Art for several years, after a career as an insurance adjuster at AIG. She loved going on adventures with her husband to Italy, Hawaii, Aruba, and Mexico. She cherished visits to CA and Poland to see her family. She also enjoyed spending time with friends and family at the beach in Old Lyme. Her kitty, Mella, was also a very important part of her life.
She leaves behind her sister Joanne Scannell, and her husband, Jack, of New Britain; her brother Robert, and his wife Paulette of San Diego, CA; her step-brother Tommy, who predeceased her; her loving mother-in-law, Gloria Massi of Farmington; her father-in-law, Siberio Massi, who predeceased her in 2004; her sister-in-law, Lynne (Massi) Mussulli and her husband, David of Douglas, MA; her brother-in-law, Paul and his wife, Christine, of Southington. She was the beloved aunt to her nieces Ruby Garbowski, Allyson Massi, and Jenna Massi; and her nephews Nicholas Massi, Jacob Mussulli and Benjamin Mussulli. She also leaves behind her Aunt Anna (Targonski) Brown and her husband, Clyde, of FL; her Aunt Reggie (Targonski) Tapper (her Godmother), and her husband, Chris, of FL; her Aunt Alicja Slezynska; her Godfather, Stanley Wyszynski; many cousins, aunts and uncles from the Kropiewnicki and Wyszynski families and many, many dear friends. A special thanks is given to the dedicated caregivers who spent time with her daily.
Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 4-8 pm at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 9:30 am in Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St. New Britain, CT concluding with committal prayers at Sacred Heart Cemetery Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to VHL.org are requested.
