

Irena (Krzykowska) Miecznikowski, 90, widow of Boleslaw Miecznikowski since 1974, of New Britain, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015. She was born in Poland, in Nowe Niemyje, was daughter to the late Jan and Anastasia (Dlugokeska) Krzykowski and was parishioner of Sacred Heart Church.
She was a great mother, modest woman, a person full of goodness and understanding. An extraordinarily kind soul. She survived World War II and a journey across the ocean to settle in Connecticut. Her invitations afforded many family members the opportunity to settle and thrive in the United States.
Irena is survived and will be dearly missed by her children, two daughters, Stella Narozniak and husband Kazimierz of Glastonbury, Marianne Rejniak and husband Marian of Avon, and, three sons, Mike Miecznikowski and wife Diane, Casy Miecznikowski and John Miecznikowski, all of New Britain, two brothers, Leszek and Franciszek Krzykowski and their families in Poland, as well as four grandchildren, Dorota Zak, Stephen Rejniak, and Magdalena Narozniak, five great grandchildren, Melissa Klatt, Paulina Siwinska, Pawel Siwinski, Jan Siwinski and Greyson Rejniak, and a great great granddaughter, Ola Malaszuk, and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her son Stanley Miecznikowski and granddaughter, Christine Rejniak.
Funeral services will begin Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 at 8:30am from New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain followed by her funeral liturgy at 9:30am in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain.
