

Joanna (Zmarlicka) Boryczewski, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 1, 2017, in New Britain, CT, surrounded by her family. She was 95. One of eleven children, she was born in Poland on March 31, 1922. She was a woman of God who raised a family in the midst of turmoil and war. Joanna was the devoted wife of Aleksander Boryczewski, who predeceased her in 2000. Together they crossed the world in search of a better place. With her husband, she always looked to God for guidance and as her source of strength. Joanna and her family immigrated to the United States in the early 1960s.
She was a true matriarch- loved and adored by her sons, Alexander Boryczewski, Edmund Boryczewski, and Henry Boryczewski and the late Krystof Bergen. She was the special “Babcia” to her seven grandchildren, Robert Bergen, Norman Bergen, Edwin Boryczewski, Lee Boryczewski, Dina Palmese, James Boryczewski, and Diana Ostrzyzek, and her 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three siblings, sisters Amelia Chojnowska and Zyta Yuhas, and brother Michal Zmarlicki.
Visiting hours will be on Monday, November 6th from 5pm until 7pm at New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain, CT, with a funeral service on Tuesday, November 7th at 11am at the funeral home..
