Jozefa Balicki

Rest in heavenly peace, our sweet mom. We love you so much, and we take comfort knowing you are happy now, reunited with your heavenly family.

Our dear Jozefa — Mom, Babcia, friend — passed away peacefully at the age of 93, held in the loving embrace of her daughter.

Born in Poland to the late Piotr and Anna (Swietek) Moryl, Jozefa came to the United States in 1963 with the courage to build a new life. She became a proud American citizen in 1996, but her Polish heart stayed close in everything she cooked, grew, and loved.

Jozefa was a hard worker who took deep pride in everything she did. She retired from the Hospital of Central Connecticut after 30 years in environmental services — three decades of showing up, doing the job right, and caring about the people around her.

At home, her hands were always busy — in the garden, at the stove, or rolling out pierogi at the kitchen table. Everybody loved Babcia’s pierogi, and she loved making them just as much as her family loved gathering around to eat them. A meal at her house was a hug you could taste.

But Jozefa’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother and a doting Babcia who cherished every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her two children, four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren:

Her daughter Teresa and her husband Lester Nadolski of Bluffton, SC; her son Lester Balicki and his wife Kari of Bristol, CT; her grandson David Nadolski and his wife Nicole, and their children Leah and Sonya of Bluffton, SC; her grandson Greg Balicki and his wife Carrie, and their children William, Nick, and Jackson of Berlin, CT; her grandson Derrick Balicki and his wife Teri, and their children Luke and Brooke of Milton, GA and her granddaughter Maggie Mehic and her husband Sead, and their children Alden and Lyla of Cromwell, CT.

Her warmth, her cooking, her quiet strength, and her love will live on in every one of us.

Calling Hours will be held on Saturday May 2, 2026 from 9AM to 10:30AM. Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday May 2, 2026 at 11AM at Holy Cross Church 31 Biruta St. New Britain CT. Interment will be held immediately after mass at Sacred Heart Cemetery 662 Burritt St. New Britain CT.
