

Julius Salvatore Bordonaro, 89, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2015. Born in New Britain, CT, he was a son of Conrad and Salvatrice (Zenitti) Bordonaro. Julius served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Proteus. He then attended Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and received a certificate in Horology. Julius lived most of his life in New Britain.
He was a member of Chippanee Country Club, in Bristol and a lifelong active member of the New Britain Elks Lodge 957.
Julius began his work as a jeweler and later enjoyed having his own business “Julius the Jeweler” for 23 years, in New Britain. He had many longtime loyal customers, of which many became his close friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Josephine (Alverde) Bordonaro, for 64 years; his three children: Deborah Partesano and husband Ezzio, of East Berlin, David Bordonaro and wife Donna, of Berlin, and Donna Valletta and husband Michael, of Saunderstown, RI; and three grandchildren: Amy Collins, Mark Bordonaro and Matthew Valletta. He is also survived by his sister, Pasquelina (Pat) Cardella, of New Britain, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Julius was blessed with a great life and loved by everyone who knew him. Julius will always be remembered by family, friends, and customers as a loving husband and father, a successful prominent businessman and Veteran. Julius will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and optimism throughout his life.
We are thankful for the gift of his life and are blessed for the time we spent with him.
The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, October 28th, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service honoring Julius, on Thursday, October 29th, 2015 at 10AM at St. Paul’s Church, 485 Alling St., Berlin. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.
