Marjorie Wright, 95, beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) Wright, passed away on June 15, 2025. She was born March 16, 1930 in Stratford, CT, the only child of the late Clifford and Millah (Jones) Thomas. She is predeceased by her parents, her step-father Charles Bauer and her step-sister Dorothea (Bauer) Morse.
Marge was born in Stratford during the Great Depression and lost her father Clifford when she was an infant. A few years later her mother married ‘Pop” Bauer, a widower with two young daughters, and Marge become part of a larger blended family. In 1948 she graduated from Stratford High and began working at CR&L Bus Lines. There she started dating her co-worker Bob, whom she had known since grade school and by 1951 they were married. Marge stayed home to raise their three young children. In 1962 they moved to Trumbull and resided there until 1995. They then moved to South Carolina where Bob worked until 2003 when they moved back to Trumbull. They returned to live in their long-time home on Lincoln St. until 2020 when they moved to New Britain to live with family.
Marge worked for the Trumbull Times as a paste-up artist and later as as a travel agent for Trumbull Travel. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist. She also loved playing the organ and singing and was a long-time member of the choir at Trinity Episcopal Church in Nichols. She was a longtime bowler and later learned to golf so she could spend more time with her husband. She usually agreed to hit from the men’s tee to ‘keep things fair’ and they spent many happy years traveling up and down the east coast on golfing vacations. She was a member for many years of the women’s league at Tashua Knolls in Trumbull. Her latter years were spent doing crossword puzzles, word searches and beating everyone at Wheel of Fortune. She loved gardening, roses, growing orchids, and dogs and found great enjoyment and comfort in her grand-dog Gilly.
Marge and Bob were married for 74 years and witnessed much joy during that time. They were able to travel to England and meet aunts, uncles and cousins whom they had only heard about from their parents. For their 50th anniversary they traveled to Hawaii for a dream vacation where Bob surprised Marge with the engagement ring he couldn’t afford to buy when they first married. They traveled across the country to visit relatives and attend the weddings of all seven grandchildren and later they were able to hold all 15 great-grandchildren in their arms. Known as ‘GG’ to the younger family members, Marge will be remembered as a kind and loving person whose love for her family was constant and strong. We are thankful to have had her for 95 years.
She is survived by her daughter Lynda Ryba and husband Chris of New Britain with whom she lived, two sons; David Wright and wife Carol of Washington State, and Robert Wright and wife Dahlia of Florida; seven grandchildren, Jason Wright, Aaron Wright, Justin Wright, Chris Ryba, Lindsay Ryba Boller, Casey Ryba Cartiera, Stephanie Ryba Winnie and her sister Charlotte (Bauer) Severance. She also leaves 15 treasured great-grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
