Mary Arbucci

Maria (Calandro) Arbucci, born August 16, 1915, widow of Sebastiano Arbucci, passed into the kingdom of heaven on February 10, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her two devoted daughters, Roseann Pianka of Bristol and Connie Scalise of New Britain and sons in law Mitchell Pianka and Salvatore Scalise, Jr. She was grandmother to Michael and his wife Jennifer Scalise, Nathan and Stephanie Scalise, Samantha Scalise, David Pianka, Adam and Angela Pianka and Stephen Pianka. She also leaves her three precious great - grandchildren, Nathan Scalise, Jacob Scalise and Sebastian Pianka, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother Pietro Calandro and three sisters, Vita Navarro, Nina Galante and Josie Greco.

"Grandma", as she was fondly called by extended family and friends, worked in New York’s Garment District in the 1940’s. After her marriage, she worked alongside her husband, Sebastiano, for many years as the proprietors of Capri Bakery in New Britain. She is remembered and loved dearly by many family members and friends. The family would like to thank the hospice team with Interim for all of their support and Rosie Dziados for all the loving care given to our mother.

Funeral services will begin Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at 8am from the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain followed by the funeral liturgy at 9am in St. Ann Church. Entombment will follow in St. Mary Garden Mausoleum.
