Raymond P. Pucci

Raymond Pucci, 93, husband of Agnes (Spitzel) Pucci of New Britain, passed away on July 14, 2016 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut after a brief illness. Ray was born on Sept. 22, 1922 in New Britain to the late Evo and Elisa (Bartolucci) Pucci of New Britain.

Ray was a lifelong New Britain resident and attended local schools. He retired as an employee of CT DOT in 1990 and was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the 88th Infantry Division in Italy where he was wounded in action and a recipient of the Purple Heart medal. He was a member of the VFW and Disabled American Veterans.

Ray was an accomplished musician teaching accordion to students and playing in local bands for many years. He enjoyed bowling and golf along with good times with his many friends and family especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and ability to make people laugh.

In addition to his wife Agnes, he leaves his son, Michael Pucci and his wife, Tammie, of Kensington and his daughter Lisa Smigel and her husband, John, of East Lyme, and his two grandchildren, Lauren of Kensington and Allison of Middletown and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Yolanda DelBiondo.

Ray’s family would like to offer special thanks to his niece and home care provider, Kim Spizuoco, and her staff for the loving care during the last years of his life.

Funeral services will be on Monday, July 18 2016 at 9:00 AM at New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at 10:00 AM at St. Ann Church. Burial with military honors will be at St. Mary Cemetery.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, July 17th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Directions, Exit 37 off I-84 take a right at the exit, 1 ½ miles on your right.
