

Raymond J. Tosatti, 90, beloved husband of the late Margaret (Pflugbeil) Tosatti, died at the Veterans Hospital Hospice Unit, West Haven, CT on August 13, 2021, surrounded by his children. Born on December 1, 1930 in New Britain, CT, he was the son of the late Guido and Hilda Tosatti. Ray graduated from New Britain High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and was a veteran of the Korean War. Raymond worked as a carpenter and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 24, for 37 years. New Britain was his home until he retired when he and his wife moved to Port Richey, FL. He resided there for 20 years and recently relocated to Connecticut. In Florida, Raymond enjoyed the warm weather and keeping active at the Timber Oaks Retirement Community where he formed many lasting friendships. Ray also volunteered in the Emergency Room at Regional Medical Center, Bayonet Point, Hudson, FL for many years and was named Volunteer of the Year in 2020. Raymond was very proud of his family and all their accomplishments. His spirit lives on in those who survive him: his sister, Marie LaFlamme; his children: Dr. Michael Tosatti and his wife, Penelope, of Westbrook, CT, Susan Tosatti of Middletown, CT, Thomas Tosatti and his wife, Leslie, of South Glastonbury, CT, and James Tosatti, of Middletown, CT; his grandchildren: Elise Tosatti, Alaina Vaughn and her husband, John, Jonathan Tosatti, Joseph Tosatti, and David Tosatti; and his great-grandson, Grady Raymond Vaughn. He was predeceased by Margaret Tosatti, his wife of 46 years, and a sister, Joan Tosatti. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law Patricia Bartkoski and Shirley DiMauro and his brother-in-law, William Pflugbeil and his wife, Maureen. In addition, Raymond leaves behind a niece and several nephews. The Tosatti children would like to thank the staff of the Veteran’s Hospital, especially those who work in the Medical ICU East and the Hospice Unit, for the extraordinary care and compassion they showed for their father. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 30, 2021, at 10:00am at St. Paul’s Church, 485 Alling St., Berlin, CT followed by a private burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Britain, CT. Due to COVID-19 concerns, there will be no calling hours nor post burial gathering. Everyone is asked to wear masks at the church service.
