

Bob was born in Meriden to the late Arthur and Helen (Brenner) Leavitt.
A biology teacher, he had been employed by the Stafford School System for 12 years, was a site manager for the New Britain Youth Museum at Hungerford Park for 8 years and had just recently retired from the Maritime Program at the Klingberg Family Center in New Britain. He was also a member of the former New Britain Camera Club.
Bob was a master gardener, enjoying the outdoors which also included his love of nature to becoming an avid photographer.
A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, in addition to his wife, Lynn, he will be greatly missed by his children and their families: James S. Pollock and his significant other Kim Marie of New Britain and their son Joseph, Michael A. Pollock of New Britain and his sons; Christopher, Michael and Jacob, a daughter, Tamara ‘Tammy’ Sowa of Colorado and her sons Michael and Brock, a brother Donald Leavitt and his wife, Marilyn of CA, 10 nieces and nephews and his loyal dog, Chelsey. He will also be missed by his mother-in-law: Margaret Turcotte of Kensington, sister-in-law: Gale Fogarty and her husband Bill of Old Saybrook and brother-in-law Bruce Turcotte and his wife Lynne of Wisconsin. He was also predeceased by a brother, Richard Leavitt.
Visitation hours will be Wednesday, May 12, 2010 from 5-7pm at the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. (directions: I-84, right of exit #37, 1 ½ miles on right). A Service to Celebrate Bob’s Life will be held at 6:30pm the same evening. There are no burial services at this time.
