

Samuel J. Pavano, 92, of Old Lyme, widower of June J. Pavano, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, April 17, 2015. Sam was the son of the late Sebastian and Josephine (Pappalardo) Pavano. Born and raised in New Britain, CT, he worked at Fafnir Bearing as a foreman until 1982 when he retired. Sam was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and an avid New York Yankees and UCONN basketball fan. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, cooking and was a jack of all trades. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and playing cards with “the boys”. Sam will be remembered for his compassion, strength, generosity and love for his family. Sam was predeceased by four brothers and one sister, Joseph Pavano, Anthony Pavano, James Pavano, John Pavano, and Connie Jaksina. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his three children; a son, Gerald Pavano and wife Elizabeth of Navarre, FL; a son, Michael Pavano and his wife Beth, of Southington, CT and a daughter, Karen (Pavano) Uliasz and her husband Gary of Plantsville, CT. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Heather Shovlin, Jeremy Pavano and his wife Lisa, Sarah Pavano, Samantha Pavano Myers, Michael Pavano, Jennifer Uliasz McVicker, and Kristy Uliasz. Five great grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler and Jaimeson McVicker and Riley and Caleb Meyers; Brother-in-Law Robert Ensminger of Fl; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may gather to remember Sam on Wednesday, April 22nd, from 4-8pm. A brief visitation will begin on Thursday, April 23rd at 10am followed by a prayer service at 11am at the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain.
