Stanislaw Krysiak, 91, beloved husband of Eleonora (Romanowska) Krysiak, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2015 in his home. He was born in Deby, Poland and was son of the late Teofil and Eleonora (Turek) Krysiak. He married Eleonora on August 22, 1948 and later immigrated with family to the United States on December 2, 1961. Stanley, as he was known, retired from The Fafnir Bearings Company as a machinist/setup man in Newington, CT and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in New Britain.
Stanley will be remembered for being a quiet and loving grandfather who treasured his time with his family. He was most proud of his eleven grandchildren and all their varied accomplishments. Stanley enjoyed tinkering with machinery and restoring furniture, and was a tirelessly hard worker who took impeccable care of his homes and gardens.
Some of Stanley’s fondest memories were spending summer weekends with family at the Connecticut shoreline where he enjoyed swimming, barbecuing, and playing cards. He was an avid basketball fan and especially enjoyed watching his son, Ryszard, play in high school and college.
At the age of 17, Stanley and his brother, Wladyslaw were captured by the Nazis and taken to Germany where they were forced to perform hard labor for three years. They escaped, traveled home, and hid in the woods for a year; at one point they dug a hole under their family home and stayed there undetected until being found by police dogs.
In addition to his beloved wife, Eleonora, of 66 years, he is also survived and will be dearly missed by his four children; Tadeusz (Teddy) and wife Krystyna of Farmington, Mieczyslaw (Mitchell) and wife Teresa of Prospect, Ryszard (Richard) and wife Stephanie of Merrimack, NH, and Barbara and husband Charles of Burlington; and his eleven precious grandchildren; Tadeusz and wife Deanna, Bernadette, Marcus, Derek, Michael, Rebecca, Alexander, Hayden, Brendan, Kathryn, and Austin; and sister Wladyslawa Popielarczyk and brother Ignac Krysiak of Poland. Stanley is predeceased by his parents, and siblings Jozef, Wladyslaw, Stefan, Helena, and Boleslaw.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 8:30 am at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain followed by his funeral liturgy at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Church in New Britain. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
